| Rather than leave the heliport lights on all night or have someone
go to the heliport to turn on the lights every time a helicopter arrives
and then go back to the heliport after the helicopter departs to turn
off the lights, a Model ROLC enables pilots to turn on the lights up
to 10 miles from the heliport, using the standard VHF radio present
in every modern aircraft. Pilots can turn on three different groups
of lights individually, in any sequence, and can turn off one group
of lights at any time. An adjustable timer also turns off all lights
